Volunteer Opportunities
As a community of care, Victoria Village aims to involve those within and outside of its facilities in the provision of vibrant, community-based, senior living. This is enhanced by our volunteers, from the Barrie and area community, who contribute to our programming, service, and care offerings.
As a volunteer at Victoria Village, you can gain experience working with seniors, arranging programs based on your interests and expertise, and knowledge of long-term care and senior services. Anyone aged 14 and over can apply to be a volunteer, and Victoria Village offers flexible hours and time commitment levels to all volunteers.
Volunteer opportunities are available across departments and volunteers can assist with a variety of activities and programs. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Recreation programs (games, arts and crafts)
- Small group programs (cards, reading, knitting)
- Special events and entertainment
- Special interest presentations
- Community outings
- One to one friendly visits
- Hair dresser & in-home wellness appointments
- General office assistance and front desk screening
- Physiotherapy/fitness classes
- Spiritual care
- Palliative visits
- Laundry
- Gardening

Board of Directors
Victoria Village is a not-for-profit, charitable organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Our Board of Directors is responsible for supporting and advancing Victoria Village’s mission and vision through governance processes, including strategic planning, financial oversight, community relations, policy development, legal advice, and advocacy.
The Board of Directors includes five sub-committees: Executive, Governance, Finance, Campus Development, and Quality Improvement. Ad hoc committees are formed in response to the needs and future goals of Victoria Village. The Board of Directors meets approximately 6 times a year, and committees meet 3 to 5 times a year.
